Academic / Life Skills Curriculum
Our multi-sensory, experience-based curriculum addresses the California state content standards with an emphasis on functional academics adapted to the unique needs and interests of each student. We draw from a variety of curriculums such as Houghton Mifflin Reading©, TouchMath®, Handwriting Without Tears®, and Kumon® Math among others. Using these curriculums as a resource, we infuse academic content into activities that focus on the developmental needs of our students, which may include communication, social skills, motor sequencing and sensory processing.
Examples of these activities include:
- Gardening projects that embed science and math lessons
- A treasure hunt to find spelling words related to students’ special interest
- A favorite recipe to feature sequence and measurements
- Interactive computer-based reading programs using family members as characters
- Identifying letters, words or numbers within an obstacle course
