The Creekside School is currently hiring creative, experienced, passionate professionals to join our team. Special Educator (Teacher)
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, or related field AND a current California Level I or Level II Education Specialist Instruction Credential (Moderate-Severe or Mild/Moderate with an additional authorization to serve those with autism)
- 1 year of experience as a lead teacher/educator in a classroom setting
- 3 years experience working with those on the autism spectrum and/or working with students who are moderate to severely affected by a developmental disability in a professional setting
- 3 years experience collaborating with other professionals (therapists, staff) on a student's IEP team
- 1 year of experience completing and presenting lesson plans, formal and informal assessments, progress reports, and IEPs for students with special needs
Goals For This Position
- Help to develop and provide an exemplary special education program to assigned students and establish a school wide environment that fosters learning and healthy development
- Lead and facilitate a classroom that allows students to meet IEP goals and developmental milestones and facilitates the development of: self-regulation, the ability to sustain engagement, positive attitudes and a sense of self, healthy social relationships, increasing levels of independence, and emotional well-being. While the curriculum and educational program is collaborative and transdisciplinary in nature, the special educator's areas of expertise are in functional academics, life skills, and social/emotional/behavioral development
- Lead the classroom team in a collaborative, respectful manner that supports the learning and professional goals of each staff member
- Be self-reflective and objective for the ultimate benefit of the students and school program, give and take feedback in a positive and supportive way
- Manage a clean, organized, effective classroom environment, regularly collaborating with other staff members to create and maintain this
- Help to maintain a clean, organized, and healthy school environment and facilities
- Be active in maintaining the efficacy and integrity of the organization within the goals/philosophy of the organization; Strive to maintain the philosophy, and mission of the program to the highest capacity
- Be supportive of and maintain positive relationships with all parents, care providers, students, other staff members, administrative staff, the board of directors, colleagues, district officials, and community members
- Work collaboratively with other Special Educators, therapists and classroom team to maintain a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment for staff and students
Administrative Coordinator
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and/or 3 years of experience as an administrative assistant, supporting an administrator or director of a complex or start-up organization (non-profit and/or educational organization preferred)
- Proven work experience in a fast paced office environment, working with a team where priorities change frequently
- 2 years minimum experience coordinating large events (200+ people)
- 2 years of demonstrated fundraising/grant writing experience, and foundations/corporate relations experience
Goals For This Position
- Provide the support to develop and maintain a special education program and help to establish an office/school wide environment that fosters the efficacy and integrity of the organization within the goals/philosophy of the organization
- Strive to maintain the philosophy, integrity, mission and goals of the program to the highest capacity
- Provide direct administrative support to the Director
- Maintain positive relationships with parents, students, other staff members, district officials, and community members
- Maintain a clean and working office environment and school wide facilities
- Assure the efficacy of various organizational systems and processes within the school, including file maintenance and documentation
- Develop, organize and facilitate school-wide and public events
- Search out funding sources appropriate to the organization's needs and through fundraising, donations, grant writing or other means, obtain additional funds to support the school's programs
Inclusion Specialist (Part-time, 3 days/week)
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Communicative Disorders or related field
- 5 years experience working with those on the autism spectrum and/or working with clients who are moderate to severely affected by a developmental disability in a professional setting and their families. Experience offering ongoing consult, collaboration and coaching with parents of clients
- 3 years experience collaborating with other professionals (therapists, teachers, staff) on a student’s IEP team
- 2 years of experience supervising other professionals, specifically supporting their professional development/training
- 3 years working in an inclusion-based program, working with typical general education students in grades k-12 and special education students, fostering social skills, communication, and healthy student relationships
Goals For This Position
- Provide an exemplary Inclusion Program to assigned students and establish a school wide environment that fosters learning and development
- Work with Educational Coordinator, and Executive Director, and all community partners to aid in the development of a the inclusion program
- Work with other therapists, the Teacher and classroom staff to help facilitate a school program that allows students to meet IEP goals and developmental milestones and facilitates the development of: self-regulation, the ability to sustain engagement, positive attitudes and a sense of self, healthy social relationships, increasing levels of independence, and emotional well-being
- Lead staff members in a collaborative, respectful manner that supports the learning and professional goals of each staff member, Support staff in their own professional development as it pertains to facilitating inclusion sessions
- Be self-reflective and objective for the ultimate benefit of the students and school program, give and take feedback in a positive and supportive way
- Help to maintain a clean, organized, effective, and healthy school environment and facilities
- Be active in maintaining the efficacy and integrity of the organization within the goals/philosophy of the organization; Strive to maintain the philosophy, and mission of the program to the highest capacity
