Home Support for Families
Building healthy relationships across environments with family members, familiar caregivers as well as school staff is essential to the intellectual, social, and emotional development of each student. We believe in developing a comprehensive educational and therapeutic model that supports students in integrating skills across environments. We also support families in strengthening relationships with their child as well as and support understanding of a student’s strengths and needs. To this end, we support the families at home in a variety of ways.
Communication between home and school is a vital component to Creekside’s family support program to facilitate an active partnership among all those working with your child. Additional collaboration is offered to others that work with the student including private therapists, caregivers, and physicians. It is essential for all those who are involved in the care and well-being of the student to openly communicate and work cohesively as a team for the benefit of the student, ensuring consistency in care.
Often challenges arise at home where the family needs additional resources, referrals and/or guidance. Such challenges may include promoting independence in self-care, interaction with siblings, attending community outings with the family, or bedtime routines. The staff works with the family to advise and assist in implementing interventions that support the overall well-being and independence of the student with a focus on building healthy family relationships between family members. This can be accomplished through home visits by Creekside staff and by parents posing concerns to the team through their confidential online group, so team members can respond, giving updates and suggestions.
