New Community Outreach Program Summary

The Community Outreach Program is being created to provide services to families and children not currently enrolled in our school who may benefit from DIR(®) and/or Floortime therapy. These services to the greater Bay Area community would include DIR® Profile Assessments, Parent Coaching/Training, Play groups, Individual Floortime Sessions, Individual Speech Therapy Sessions, and Individual Occupational Therapy Sessions. Sessions will take place on our school campus.

This is a very exciting opportunity for professionals as the DIR® Model is being implemented in a limited number of schools across the country. These positions open, as listed below, require individuals who are deeply passionate about working with students with Autism Spectrum disorders who exhibits self-motivation, patience, flexibility, and openness to implementing a different type of methodology.

Classroom Special Educator
Qualifications

- At least a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, K-12
- CA Mild-Moderate or Moderate-Severe Special Education Teaching Credential
- 3 to 5 years experience with elementary aged children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Ability to effectively work collaboratively within a transdisciplinary team
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with special needs children and families
- Willingness to acquire knowledge in the DIR® Model and use principles in the classroom
- Ability to develop meaningful, experience-based curricula, meeting the developmental needs of each student in accordance with CA State Content Standards

Outreach Speech-Language Pathologist

This position of Speech-Language Pathologist - Community Outreach Program will provide the therapy sessions, communication assessments, screenings, and co-treatments on-site. The speech-language pathologist may also conduct Inclusion/Integrated Playgroups, assist with the after school programs, and weekend social events for participants in the Community Outreach Program as the offerings are expanded. Qualifications

- Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology and/or Communication Sciences and Disorders
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)
- CA State License
- 3 to 5 years experience with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder or related issues
- Ability to manage other professionals in a positive and supportive way
- Strong knowledge base of child development, individual learning styles
- Demonstrate the ability to work with children who have varied skills
- Experience assessing/evaluating children to create learning opportunities according to their individual needs

Outreach Occupational Therapist

This position of Occupational Therapist- Community Outreach Program will provide the therapy sessions, motor/sensory assessments, screenings, and co-treatments on-site. The occupational therapist may also conduct Inclusion/Integrated Playgroups, assist with the after school programs, and weekend social events for participants in the Community Outreach Program as the offerings are expanded. Outreach Special Educator

This position of Special Educator - Community Outreach Program will provide Floortime sessions on-site. The Special Educator may also conduct Inclusion/Integrated Playgroups, assist with the after school programs and weekend social events for participants in the Community Outreach Program as the offerings are expanded.

This position may also bridge the services provided in the Community Outreach Program and those offered as part of The Creekside School. At times, this position may work to assist the Teacher/SLP/OT in a multitude of areas such as preparation and implementation of daily activities, maintenance of records and communication logs, and overall maintenance of students well being when called upon. Outreach Play Therapist

This position of Play Therapist will provide Floortime sessions on-site. The Play Therapist may also conduct Inclusion/Integrated Playgroups, assist with the after school programs and weekend social events for participants in the Community Outreach Program as the offerings are expanded.

This position may also bridge the services provided in the Community Outreach Program and those offered as part of The Creekside School. At times, this position may work to assist the Teacher/SLP/OT in a multitude of areas such as preparation and implementation of daily activities, maintenance of records and communication logs, and overall maintenance of students well being when called upon. The Play Therapist reports to the Director and/or the Community Outreach Manager. Positions include full- or part-time, available hourly or salary. [Back to the top]

- Bachelor's degree (or better) in education or a related field
- 3 to 5 years experience with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder or related issues
- Energetic and positive attitude about working with children and families
