Sensory Integration
Sensory Integration
Many students, particularly those who are on the autism spectrum have difficulties with sensory integration. When the body cannot properly intake and use sensory input, it greatly affects the process of building of foundational skills. This can lead to difficulty taking in or interpreting information in order to appropriately respond throughout the school day.
At Creekside, the staff establishes an individual sensory profile of each student. The team then utilizes appropriate sensory integration strategies and activities throughout the day to help the student regulate thier sensory input. When the student is regulated, he/she is more equipped to participate as fully and independently as possible.
