David Drummond
Board Chair
David is the co-founder and Board President of the Creekside School, and Derek's dad. He began his career as an attorney at Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich, and Rosati and later became Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer at Google and Alphabet. He now owns the Overshine Collective, a company that operates wineries in Healdsburg, California. He graduated from Santa Clara University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and earned his J.D. at Stanford Law School. He played football at SCU and now enjoys cycling. He is a wine aficionado, an avid sports fan (with particular allegiance to the Arsenal Football Club, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the San Francisco Giants), and a dedicated follower of Jeopardy.
Elena Marimo Berk
Board Secretary
Elena is the co-founder of the Creekside School and Derek's mom. She taught high school social studies for 11 years. She is the past chair for the SF UNICEF Advisory Board and the current Vice Chair of North America for the UNICEF International Council. She also serves on the executive committee for Human Rights Watch Silicon Valley, The Sempervirens Fund, the Santa Clara University School of Education Advisory Council, and the Creekside School Board. She is passionate about social issues, especially the rights of people with special needs. She enjoys running, swimming, biking, hiking, and hanging out with her son, and is a huge fan of the SF Giants, the Golden State Warriors, and Arsenal. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Santa Clara University and her Master's Degree in Education from Stanford University.
Issac Vaughn
Isaac is a Board Director, Advisor, and Senior Executive with 20+ years of experience working for, investing in, and advising high-growth technology companies. Issac most recently served as the Chief Operating Officer of Zenefits, a leading provider of HR, Payroll, and Benefits Administration software to small and medium-sized businesses. Before joining Zenefits, Issac served in various senior executive roles at Ooyala, a company that provided video workflow management systems to enterprises. Earlier in his career, Issac was a partner at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where he practiced for 14 years in this renowned law firm that has represented the technology pioneers associated with virtually every milestone innovation. Issac serves on for-profit and nonprofit boards, including the Silicon Valley Community Foundation.
Ken Cheng
Ken is a seasoned technology executive and advisor with extensive experience in mission-driven leadership, corporate governance, and strategic growth across public and private companies. Now retired from full-time operating roles, he advises technology startups, private equity, and venture firms, and currently serves as a Special Advisor to CarneyTechnology Acquisition Corp (NASDAQ: CTAQ) and as an advisor to Startup UCLA. His career spans deep technical innovation and senior executive leadership, including roles as Vice President of Engineering and Chief Operating Officer at Digital Generation Systems (IPO 1996), senior leadership positions at Foundry Networks (IPO 1999, acquisition by Brocade 2008), and Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at Brocade Communications, where he helped guide the company through its acquisition by Broadcom (NASDAQ: AVGO) in 2017.
Karen Hook
Karen has an undergraduate degree in Music Therapy from the University of Kansas, and an MA in Special Education from San Francisco State University. Karen’s work experience began with working with adolescents and adults with developmental needs at a state hospital in St Louis, MO, and teaching junior Kindergarten and directing at a private school, The Learning Company and Academy, in San Jose. She opened her private Music Therapy practice in 1989 out of her home studio. Karen has taught Kindergarten music classes to children and consulted with school districts from Gilroy to Cupertino. Her favorite job has been working with the Creekside School from its inception to 2025. Karen continues to see 20 private students with autism each week.
Brooks Doggett
Brooks is a Private Wealth Advisor with Capital Group Private Client Services, where he works with accomplished individuals, families, and nonprofit organizations who value thoughtful, personalized planning and a long-term approach to managing wealth. Drawing on extensive experience advising large institutional investors, including senior roles at Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, and Merrill Lynch, Brooks helps clients navigate market complexity with discipline, perspective, and resilience. He is passionate about lifelong learning and has previously served as a board member of the Katherine Delmar Burke School in San Francisco. Brooks holds an MBA from The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, a BA from the University of Vermont, and is both a CFA® and CPWA® charterholder.
